HHCI Completes MCB Camp Pendleton Wastewater System Design


Riverside, CA – October 15, 2013 – Hal Hays Construction, Inc. (HHCI) completed final design of the “Design Build Repair Taps 1, 2 and 3 Wastewater System” project at MCB Camp Pendleton, CA for the Department for the Navy. HHCI will now begin the project’s build phase and mobilize for construction operations.

department of navyThe new design eliminated potential wastewater overflow spills at TAPS 1, 2, and 3 during emergency overflow events, by converting the existing secondary clarifiers into emergency wastewater overflow storage tanks. Additionally, the design prevents unauthorized discharges and ensures each system’s compliance with the Clean Water Act, Environmental Protection Agency’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), and Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) requirements.

HHCI’s Travis AFB Road Project Awarded STAR Award & Above Average Performance Rating


Riverside, CA – October 1, 2013 – Hal Hays Construction, Inc. (HHCI) earned an above average project evaluation from the Department of the Navy for completion of the $5.8M “Construct Bypass Road Around Taxiway Mike” project at Travis Air Force Base, Fairfield, CA.

star award 2013Additionally, HHCI was awarded a STAR (Safety Through Awards and Recognition) Award for outstanding safety performance throughout the duration of the project.

The project’s scope included: construction and relocation of a perimeter road with asphalt concrete pavement travel lanes and unpaved shoulders; reconstruction of pavement adjacent to the existing south gate facility; water line construction; drainage structures; site improvements; and fencing.

For this project, HHCI provided upgraded infrastructure to Travis Air Force Base and its air mobility teams. Accolades from the Resident Officer in Charge of Construction include: “(HHCI) finished the project ahead of schedule due to a proactive prosecution of the work.  They worked weekends to ensure the project was completed in a timely manner.”

The fund, established in remembrance of the late Native American entrepreneur, Randy Twist, supports students of Native American decent in attaining higher education with scholarships ranging from $1,500 to $2,500.

This $1.5 million project includes design and construction for an athletic grade artificial turf and irrigation system.
