HHCI’s $1.5M Potable Water Project Earns VERY GOOD Performance Ratings!

Riverside, CA – September 27, 2016 – HHCI earned VERY GOOD performance ratings for work quality and project management during the execution of the $1.5M Design Build Potable Water System project at the Marine Corps Logistics Base-Nebo and Yermo Annexes, in Barstow, CA.

This project consisted of multiple-site repairs to the potable water system for MCLB Barstow’s main headquarters facility, including: (1) backflow preventer valve installations, (2) piping reconfigurations, (3) various faucet and flush valve replacements, and (4) pipe cross connection corrections.

HHCI self-performed design management, all wet utility work, earthwork and demolition/abandoning in place of existing water lines. In addition, HHCI avoided any contamination to the ground water during construction operations, and completely mitigated stormwater runoff.

Thanks to the HHCI team for their excellent performance on this project. HHCI looks forward to providing our award-winning services to the Naval Facilities Engineering Command for future wet utility projects of various types and sizes!

HHCI Receives Letter of Appreciation for Outstanding Safety Performance!

Riverside, CA – September 13, 2016 – HHCI earned a Letter of Appreciation from the US Naval Facilities Engineering Command for its outstanding dedication to safety for construction of the Recirculation Lines at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA. This $1.1M project consisted of repairing the existing domestic hot water (DHW) system re-circulation lines for the Bachelors Enlisted Quarters in building B-619. This complex project required (1) demolition of DHW copper lines, fittings, and valves, (2) installation of new DHW Type L copper lines, fittings; and valves, (3) labeling flow direction of equipment and pipes, (4) insulation of hot water pipes, and (5) disposal of all demolished material.

This award is a notable achievement for the HHCI team demonstrating our proactive safety culture and the protection of our most valuable resource – our people.

HHCI Awarded 2016 Minority Construction Firm of the Year by MBDA!

Riverside, CA – August 22, 2016 – The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) selected HHCI as the 2016 Minority Construction Firm of the Year! This award pays tribute to minority entrepreneurs who have demonstrated industry leadership, business success, economic impact, and community involvement.

MBDA will honor the 2016 Awardees during the 2016 National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week, an annually designated week (October 23 through 29, 2016) recognizing the nation’s minority entrepreneurs. During MED Week, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and the MBDA National Director will honor HHCI at the National Minority Supplier Development Council’s (NMSDC) National convention in Chicago, Illinois. MBDA has held the MED week celebration in partnership with the National Minority Supplier Development Council for more than 30 years.

Riverside, CA – August 4, 2016 – The Southern California Minority Supplier Development Council (SCMSDC) awarded HHCI the 2016 Supplier of the Year Award by Southern California Edison in the Class IV category. The Supplier of the Year Award recognizes our firm for its outstanding growth and development, employment and job creation, quality of operations, business performance, MBE spend and more! As the Class IV winner, HHCI receives special recognition by the council, a business scholarship by Toyota, and now will be competing for the 2016 Supplier of the Year Western Regional Title. The Western Regional winner will get the chance to compete for the National Title at the National Minority Supplier Development Council conference held in Chicago, IL.

HHCI Achieves Highest SCE Scorecard – Ever!

Riverside, CA – July 25, 2016 – HHCI’s project performance on the Southern California Edison El Dorado Substation Waterline project earned an overall 3.9 out of 4.0 scorecard rating, representing the highest score ever received by a SCE contractor!

In addition, HHCI achieved a perfect score of 4.0 in both the Environmental and Health & Safety categories, demonstrating HHCI’s proficiency in these crucial project areas.
The El Dorado Substation Waterline project consisted of construction of 14-inch PVC water and fire line pipelines, demolition, earthwork, directional drilling, asphalt paving, traffic control measures, and work performed in a secured operational environment. To achieve successful execution of this multi-phased project, HHCI employed vast resources including HHCI’s knowledgeable project team consisting of 93 self-performing crew members, and SCE-experienced, pre-qualified suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.

Eagle Canyon Dam Awarded Project of the Year by ASCE!

Riverside, CA – July 12, 2016 – HHCI’s Eagle Canyon Dam and Debris Basin project has been recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) selection committee as Picture1the 2015-2016 Project of the Year. The $10.6 million project was the first dam constructed by the Riverside County Flood Control District since 1993. The Dam is designed to hold 185 acrefeet of water, 40 acrefeet of debris and removed 190 acres and 500 structures from the mapped floodplain. This milestone project now provides flood and hazard mitigation, by protecting Cathedral City from rain torrents and debris funneled downstream.

Each year, the ASCE recognizes exciting and innovative new civil engineering projects built throughout Picture2San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, and this year HHCI faced some stiff competition between the projects vying for Project of the Year.

We felt your project was a fine representation of what the Civil Engineering Profession brings to our community and we have recognized it as such”, noted Brandon Reyes, ASCE Past President of the San Bernardino/Riverside chapter.
